Pembroke Pines, (population 150,000 in 2004) is located in Broward County. The city was incorporated in 1960. As an aftermath of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, when thousands of South-Dade residents moved to Broward County, Pembroke Pines’ population substantially increased, to become one of the fastest growing cities in the US. It is also one of the physically largest cities in Broward with close to 37 square miles. It borders with Hollywood, Cooper City and Southwest Ranches to the North, Miramar to the South, Hollywood to the East, and the Everglades to the West.
